The most comprehensive course, from scratch to achieving autonomy

Learn and Fly

Develop autonomy in the air: Paragliding course from scratch to novice pilot.

This course aims to provide you with sufficient knowledge to fly independently at a known site—that is, to be able to take off and land without assistance from an instructor or monitor. The entire process is carried out following the guidelines of the international association of paragliding pilots and instructors (APPI). With this course, you can apply for your certification as a Beginner Pilot. This means that if you plan to fly at a location where you have not completed your training, you must do so under the supervision and guidance of a local instructor.

Expert instructors, unforgettable flights

What Does the Course Involve?

The course progresses according to each student’s own evolution; however, we try to follow the following itinerary:

  1. Throughout the course, we conduct both theoretical and practical classes, and we provide materials for the student to study at home.
  2. The first 5 days are spent at the field school located in Curiti Santander, where we begin ground handling and practice the two main inflation techniques (forward inflation and cross inflation). Here, the first flights called “Sapitos” are carried out.
  3. Once these practices are successfully completed, it is suggested to take a break of 1 or 2 days.
  4. The next 4 days, we change the scenario and go to the flying site located in Floridablanca Santander (Ruitoque), where the first high-altitude flights are conducted with practices at the beginning of the morning and at the end of the afternoon. In this practice, we have an instructor at takeoff and another at landing. The idea is to gain autonomy until radio assistance from the instructor or monitor is no longer required.
  5. Once the practices at this location are successfully completed, we raise the level!
  6. The last day is the Graduation Flight in the Chicamocha Canyon under the supervision of the instructors

BONUS: If the student has more time, the organization provides free support for 2 additional days in the Chicamocha Canyon.

3 flight locations for you

We have three flight locations that allow you to evolve in both types of paragliding flight, dynamic and thermal. During this course, inductive flights and practices will be carried out in the 3 flight locations (Curiti, Ruitoque, and Chicamocha Canyon); however, the location for conducting the final (autonomous) practices will be decided based on each student’s progress.

I like paragliding because this activity gives me freedom, happiness, and work at the same time — it is basically a hobby, a profession, and a sport all in one.
